Briefly: Good burnt ends and hot links, unsure of rest. Fried pickles and cheese curds good. Detailed: To preface this review, I eat a lot of bbq of different styles. I am not particularly picky on style but I am particular on taste. I went here on a rainy Thursday afternoon in early September, hardly the busiest time of the year. Good prompt service, friendly waiter. I split a two meat platter (burnt end and hot links) with fries and kettle chips and a cheese curd/fried pickle appetizer with my fiancé. Portion size for the platter was large, and it was average to a good deal for the curds and pickles. The pickles and curds were good, but I have had better. I would still order them again. The burnt ends were cubed, tender, fatty and fully of flavor as they should be. They were great and went well with the hickory bbq sauce. The hot link was different than most places, as it was home made and a little crumbly, but it tasted good and had a nice chorizo taste in there. Went well with the two mustard sauces and the sweet heat sauce. The fries were lightly seasoned which was great to test out all of the flavors of bbq sauce. There wasn't anything special about the chips, they were nice and crispy and salted well.

Beans were not for me. It was like more BBQ Sauce and I used that on my sandwich already. I got the fatty burnt end brisket sandwich and it was fatty. Should have asked for a mix. D had a brisket in the lean side and loved it !! I'd go back !

Went to a wedding nearby. What a find!! Cozy place, the staff were really friendly and attentive despite how packed the restaurant was. We loved the 5 BBQ meat selection. The twice burned tri-tip and brisket were divine. A note as well for the custom made sauces that would make many BBQ places green with envy - Mountain gold Sauce FTW!

On day 13 of our ride we stopped here for a bite. I had the special which was the Firecracker Burger and sweet potato mash. Second best burger of my trip as of yet. Service was outstanding as we're the $$.

Great food, reasonable price. Nice atmosphere in a small town. Will most certainly come here again for the burnt ends and sweet potato mash!

Went there for dinner. The waitress in the front seemed rude and non-caring. No "welcome to Smokehouse Restaurant" or anything so I left without ordering. I spent my money at another restaurant down the street.

Our family visited The Smokehouse in March 2015, and we loved it. The restaurant is clean, neat, comfortable, and well-run. We were greeted and served quickly, and the owner came by to check how we were doing. But of course the main feature is the food - and it was terrific. Our sons had ribs, and they gobbled them down. I tried one and it was tender, with great flavor. My wife and I had pork shoulder and burnt ends, and both were great. The burnt ends in particular were outstanding. We liked all the different sauces, but our favorite was the hickory. One more note: my wife and kids have to eat gluten-free due to food allergies, and we loved the prominent mention of gluten-free options. We will definitely be back, and look forward to trying the other menu items enthusiastically endorsed by Yelp reviewers.

Went there for dinner at 9 o'clock, waitress came and apparently wasn't happy that we came late. She threw down the menus and walked away. We looked at each other in disbelief and got up and left. There are probably many other restaurants are better than this one in town.

I had to get it again to make sure... their smoked burger is easily the best burger in the valley and in my top 5 burgers i have ever had. Next best is the happy hour special. 4 buck pulled pork just can't be beat. Highly recommend. Great service and quick take-out.

  • Alex L.

The Good: My burnt ends sandwich was perfectly savory and toasty! I gobbled it right up. Few things satisfy like hot barbecued meats after a long day of skiing, especially when served up speedily and in large quantities. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in Winter Park. The Bad: Smokehouse BBQ's menu is fairly limited, so if you are a picky eater traveling with BBQ-loving friends, you may leave hungry. Their variety of sauces is a nice touch, but none of them tasted quite right - the spicy sauces were overpowering, while the milder ones had too much tang for my liking.

I am guessing the food here is great, but we would not know. Believe the reviews about the poor service. I called around 5 pm to see if they could accommodate our family of 8 at 7pm. I was told that they didn't take reservations but should be no problem. We showed up at 7 and were told we needed to wait for the "large table" to open up - should be 20-25 minutes. After 30 minutes (and seating another larger party just ahead of us), were were told they were out of BBQ except for chicken legs and thighs. Just what a group with starving kids wants to hear. No choice but to leave...awesome

Amazing, yummy BBQ! Started with the Poutine. Never had it before...so glad we tried it! Then we had the hot links...beyond tasty with a side of sweet potato mash. Oh so good! Incredible service. Our server was sweet and professional all in one. Definitely worth the drive...definitely going back!

Dinner on a slow Sunday. Pulled pork was moist, but a bit lacking in smoke flavor. Burnt ends were good, sides (slaw & beans) very good. Sauces were just OK, hickory being the best. Service passed the test.

  • Jason S.

We stopped in for some BBQ and were very hungry after a long day on the slopes. They were out of the burnt ends so we tried the pork shoulder, brisket and smoked sausage. The pork and brisket were good! The sausage was more of a chorizo than a smoked sausage. The sides we ordered were disappointing. The baked beans were not cooked and were still hard. The mac and cheese tasted like milk poured over macaroni. We also got fries and they were good. Overall we were disappointed but hungry and the portions were filling. Next time we will head back to Hernando's! I will say though, they do have some sweet decor. There is a flying/skiing pig on the building, nice touch guys!

Terrible is an understatement. Several ads claimed gluten free options just ask your server. Well ours knew nothing and served my celiac husband's meal with bread!!! If you're used to real southern BBQ don't waste your time here.

We had a wonderful dinner with a party of 7. Waitresses were charming and engaging even though we were the last table mid-week. Food was terrific, served hot and timely. We ski WP about every two years and this will become a goto location.

We were visiting the Winter Park area for the weekend and ate here for lunch. Amazing bbq! So tender and delicious. We liked the Hickory sauce best. We will be coming back for more next time we are in Winter Park.

We arrived just before 1pm on a Monday afternoon to a full house. The staff was friendly and seated us promptly at the bar. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was served neither hot nor cold, but at room temperature on an egg bun sliced in half, directly from the bag. The pork was in large chunks rather than in true pulled strands. I had the slaw as my side. I've never before had coleslaw made of iceberg lettuce rather than cabbage. My daughter had the smoked burger which was served hot off the griddle. It was rather greasy as it dripped on her legs when she picked it up for a bite. Can't say I'd ever make it a point to return.

Easily my favorite bbq place. We go here every time we go to Winter Park which is about twice a month, and have been here since they first opened. The smoked meats are obviously the star of the show. Burnt Ends are all of our favorites, but honestly we usually get a platter and split everything. I used to not be a big fan of the sides, but they added a Sweet Potato Mash recently. I have to say, neither myself nor my husband are big sweet potato fans...but we love this. Our 5 year old loves everything about this place as well. The owner is great, as well as the rest of the staff. We've been in here when it's super crowded, completely empty, and in between, and have never had a bad meal.

  • Candace B.

The food here is so delicious. The cook most definitely knows how to Q. I suggest getting the sweet potato sides with either the ribs or any sandwich. I'm not a pork eater so I had chicken. It was delicious! Also, their different sauces were fun to try. All very good! We will be coming back! I just wished they had hot chocolate but it's BBQ and that's not a usual with it. Lol

We went here last night but ended up leaving b/c they were out of what we want to have. The waiter said the smoker had been broke, but was just fixed when we arrived. So, we told him we'll come back tomorrow night and we did. We just got done eating dinner here and I must say that we totally enjoyed our meal. My husband had the pork shoulder and hot links with potato salad and baked beans while I had the burnt ends with sweet potato mash and mac and cheese. The pork shoulder and burnt ends are very tender - the burnt ends have just the right amount of fat in it. The hot links delish! The baked beans and sweet potato mash are very good as well. My hubby said this place is better than Smokin' Moe's located in Cooper Creek Square - he ordered to go last year when we were in WP on a ski vacation. The Smokehouse BBQ is worth going back to.

  • Elle J.

This place is awesome! The wings were amazing and so was the brisket. We sat at the bar and Jon, the manager, ended up waiting on us since they were busy and he was great as well. High recommend this place if in winter park.

Favorite BBQ in Colorado. Good selection of sauces and good service. This is one of our standbys when we are up in wp. Plus a nice renovation of the old Pizza Hut.

Stopped in with the family while on vacation. Staff was exceptionally friendly, food was delivered promptly. Now about the food. All five in the family raved about the ribs, pork shoulder, and brisket. This will be a stop when we are back in town Thank you!

  • Steve M.

We recently ordered carryout and were quite disappointed, although the staff was very friendly. The good...cheese curds, although I'm sure were from frozen, they were quite tasty. Also, the smashed sweet potatoes were good as was the hickory and mild BBQ sauces. The bad...there's no way the pork ribs and brisket we ordered were smoked fresh that day. The brisket was dry and spongy and the ribs were so dry they were hard to eat. It seems others have had a better experience, so maybe if everything was freshly smoked, it would be much better. I just wish if it wasn't fresh they would 86 it from the menu that night. Worst part was that I ordered kettle chips as I side thinking they were homemade...I got Lays kettle chips. The beans taste like chili without the meat. $50 for carryout for 2 is too much for sub-par food.

The place smelled great and we were greeted by friendly staff. Our server was outstanding. Everything we ordered was some of the best BBQ in colorado and the sauces were all really good. The only complaint is that I got too full off of one sandwich to try anything else.

Since the other reviews were written within a month of the place open, I thought maybe a new review was due. their HH prices (from 2-6pm) are some of the best in town. chop or pulled pork sammies (with close to 1 lb of food are $3 each. a full lb of burnt ends for $9 is a deal. plus they have stella, grand lake beers on tap for cheep, and pbr/miller hi life for $2. they would get 5 stars but for the small sides. go eat here it is better than smokin' moes, and there are hotter chicks eating at the smokehouse.

Good beer, good food. If you don't like this place it's your own damn fault.

  • Mark B.

I have no idea how the food tastes. 35 minutes to attract a server to take an order. Waited another 1/2 hour for food. No food. No one seemed to have any idea if and whether food might arrive in the future. Surrendered and fled. Hyper understaffed place. Getting a BBQ sandwich should not take over an hour of playing find the waitstaff.

Just as good as last year...the smokehouse chili is awesome...service is excellent...a definite stop everytime we visit WP.

We went here on a whim as a change from Smokin' Moe's. We should have just went with the old standby. Let's start with the BBQ sauce. All of them are really thin and pretty bland. They claim to have a "Colorado Kicker" habanero mustard ... as far as I could tell, it was just plain mustard. The "sweet and tangy" sauce had more kick than the supposed habanero sauce. And the hickory sauce, which is usually one of my favorites, more or less tasted like ketchup. The wings I ordered to start were well smoked and juicy, but they came out without any sauce. So not much BBQ or spicy taste there either. One of our party said the pork shoulder was ok. I had the burt tips, which while burnt, weren't really juicy or fatty as expected. I'd say if you're in a rush, have a big group including kids, or aren't looking for great BBQ, go for it.

3 out of the last 4 times we have gotten food from here, the chicken has been so dry that parts were inedible. My husbands ribs were good and the sides were good but I guess when we want barbecue we will have to look elsewhere.

This place is a bit hard to spot if you're not looking for it -- for people who used to know the old Pizza Hut on the west of Highway 40 - it's taken over that location. We went there on a whim and were really impressed with the barbecue. My husband thought they were the best wings he's ever tasted, and the pulled pork and sausage was really tasty, as well. The baked beans were also amazing. I also like their selection of IPAs on tap. I agree that the prices are better than Smoking Moe's. Check it out if you're in town.

Enjoyed lunch at the Smokehouse BBQ. They have great sauces and good BBQ, the best in the Fraser Valley. I think some of the negative comments were written close to their opening. They have worked out the kinks. Give them another shot.

Great service, friendly manager from Australia Food was good, not over the top but it did hit the spot Chop had lots of BBQ sauce which was yum, Mac and cheese was more to be desired Really like the 5 BBQ sauces on every table, let's you add as much as you want and try several different tastes, none of them are really hot 4 stars because they are a start up and deserve a chance

Went to Smokehouse for the first time today. We are locals during the summer and usually go to Moe's. We were just used to seeing Pizza Hut in that location and not sure about trying it out. We we very surprised. The food was excellent!!!! The baked beans are wonderful, the buns are very fresh and the BBQ is great. Loved the variety of sauces. No, they are not thin or bland. Very flavorful. Can't say enough about the customer service. Michael was great. He is really concerned about making sure everything is good and everyone is taken care of. The place is very clean and you can see into the kitchen, which is always a plus. I think we found our new BBQ place in Winter Park!!!!!

My husband and I went here for a beer and to look at the menu to grab something to eat. We were greeted enthusiastically at the door and seated with menus (3 feet from the bar). The salad bar didn't look too good, but we didn't intend to get a salad, so we thought we would order a drink and find something to order. The place was nearly empty with only 2 other tables occupied. Seemed weird since it was during prime lunch time (11-2p). It didn't take long to know why. The bartender must've had an eye problem, since he ignored us for over 15 minutes. No waitress to be found. When we got up to leave, all of a sudden, the bartender said something to my husband as we were walking out. We turned to say that we were leaving due to lack of service. Horrible...won't be back and will let all my friends who go to Winter Park to pass this place up. After reading other reviews, sounds like the food isn't good either. We went to Deno's Restaurant across the street and had a wonderful experience. We should have listened to the local recommendations and went there first.

We stopped here on our way back to Denver passing through. We needed something kid friendly with fast service to get back on the road. The service was phenomenal! The BBQ was also REALLY good! I love the different options you could get as sides. I had the pulled pork, and it was delicious. They also had different sauce options that were great! My husband had the smoked chicken, and he said it was the best smoked chicken he's ever had! The prices were reasonable for a resort town, and the menu selection was great! We would definitely come back and recommend it!

I have driven by here many times on my way to my ski condo in Fraser but the recent remodel featuring a pig on skis lured me in and l"m so glad we came! The decor is very tasteful, sort of the South meets Colorado. On a very cold evening it was comfortable and the vibe was happy and upbeat. The homemade hot links were the best, the ribs were very good and they have 5 kinds of sauce each one unique and wonderful! In addition our server, Emily, was awesome. Friendly, helpful and funny. They also have happy hour specials and I am going to make a point to visit après ski.

The only reason I gave it 3 instead of 4 is because I wasn't crazy about their sides. I got the mac and cheese which was bland and missing something. The nachos I wasn't to crazy about but the loaded fries is a must! All in all a good place. I would recommend it.

I had to get it again to make sure... their smoked burger is easily the best burger in the valley and in my top 5 burgers i have ever had. Next best is the happy hour special. 4 buck pulled pork just can't be beat. Highly recommend. Great service and quick take-out.

Went there for dinner at 9 o'clock, waitress came and apparently wasn't happy that we came late. She threw down the menus and walked away. We looked at each other in disbelief and got up and left. There are probably many other restaurants are better than this one in town.

I've owned a place and have been skiing in winter park for 30 years. I've eaten at most restaurants in town and this was my first time here. I ordered the brisket and it was pretty good. Our waitress was having a bad day and it showed. Our 'thank you's' were unanswered, there were no smiles, and we never felt welcome. Four of us left with the same comment. Good food, really bad service. That's my last meal there.

Had a great meal here tonight. When we walked up, the closed sign was up. They were trying to close early as they were holding a staff party that night. But they saw us walk up, looking confused, and they quickly welcomed us in. The service was fast, very efficient and friendly. The food was tasty and filling, and the atmosphere was family-friendly and warm. As we were leaving, we stopped to chat with the owner who seemed to truly represent Winter Park - laid back, friendly and fun! We will return!

Visiting Winter Park, we weren't sure where to eat. If you love BBQ, this place is for you. I had the pulled pork shoulder and brisket, it was delicious! With 6 different sauces to choose from, it made for a fun dinner! My fiancé had the burnt ends and raved the rest of the night about them. Burnt ends can be hard to find, but they were phenomenal! The service was great too. The employees were all nice and helpful but didn't hover too much. It seemed like they actually liked being at work, which made it that much better.

I have a personal high end smoker and consider myself an decent weekend pittmaster. We ordered ribs, brisket ends, and pulled pork. The ribs lacked real flavor including any smokeyness. The meat could be barely chewed off the bone let alone fall of the bone. It was very very dry and not what I expected from a BBQ joint of this nature. Brisket ends were hockey pucks, over over cooked. Pork was decent but lacked real smoke flavor and could have used a saltier brine. The place was nice, clean, and friendly.... Maybe we caught them on a bad night. 5 out 6 guests at our table wouldn't return again.

Dinner on a slow Sunday. Pulled pork was moist, but a bit lacking in smoke flavor. Burnt ends were good, sides (slaw & beans) very good. Sauces were just OK, hickory being the best. Service passed the test.

Stopped in with the family while on vacation. Staff was exceptionally friendly, food was delivered promptly. Now about the food. All five in the family raved about the ribs, pork shoulder, and brisket. This will be a stop when we are back in town Thank you!

  • JJ J.

The only reason I gave it 3 instead of 4 is because I wasn't crazy about their sides. I got the mac and cheese which was bland and missing something. I also got the sweet potato mash which was good but not great. I got The Liftie sand which. That however was delicious! I highly recommend it. I was not disappointed. We also got two appetizers. The nachos I wasn't to crazy about but the loaded fries is a must! All in all a good place. I would recommend it.

It was delicious! Also, their different sauces were fun to try. All very good! We will be coming back! I just wished they had hot chocolate but it's BBQ and that's not a usual with it. Lol

Pulled pork sandwich was amazing, Alabama style coleslaw and kick ass soup to boot!! Homemade, down home, family oriented atmosphere.

Great food. Good service. Reasonable prices. Casual atmosphere. Best BBQ smoked chicken I've ever had! So yummy. Great place to eat in Winter Park.

Appetizers were awesome: loaded fries and nachos. The pulled pork platter was cold when served. Mac and cheese was bland. Cole slaw was very pickled. Service was friendly.

The place smelled great and we were greeted by friendly staff. Our server was outstanding. Everything we ordered was some of the best BBQ in colorado and the sauces were all really good. The only complaint is that I got too full off of one sandwich to try anything else.

Stopped in with the family while on vacation. Staff was exceptionally friendly, food was delivered promptly. Now about the food. All five in the family raved about the ribs, pork shoulder, and brisket. This will be a stop when we are back in town Thank you!

Great food and excellent service for a group from Kansas City. We were a party of 7, ordering a variety of meats and sauces. All were very good as were the sides. Bonus for us was the fact that most everything is gluten free.
